History
The District and Its Development
The Ravenestraße is located in a district that has changed significantly over time. Initially, there were larger meadow and garden areas known as the "Herrenwiese". The northern part of Cochem was still bounded by the town wall. With the railway connection in 1879, Cochem received an important link, and wine trade and emerging tourism were promoted. Between Endertbach and the station, a new urban area gradually emerged with representative buildings, hotels and villas.

The House on Ravenestraße
The villa was built around 1900 as a representative rubble stone building and was long known as "Villa Hausmann". It was built for the merchant Dr. jur. Carl Jos. Hausmann according to plans by the Trier architect Carl Reitz and continues to shape the cityscape today. The characteristic building with its distinctive tower, richly designed sandstone elements and special architecture is a significant testament to the building art of that era.
The Villa Through Changing Times
The newspaper article from WochenSpiegel dated May 21, 2025 tells the eventful history of the Moselvilla – from its origins as a merchant's villa through the war years to its new chapter as Pension Moselvilla 1900. Personal memories from Klaus-Joachim Schlegel, who lived in the villa as a child, are also shared.
